It is understandable that some patients have a nervous anticipation towards their prospective dental treatment. We aim to allay their worries by providing a safe, caring and relaxing environment. However, for some patients, this may not be enough to be able to come for treatment due to their level of fear. For these patients we are able to offer intravenous sedation.
Intravenous Sedation is a sedative liquid gently injected into the back of the hand via a small plastic canula (The drug used is Midazolam which belong to a group of drugs called Benzodiazepines). It will very quickly make you feel drowsy and pleasantly relaxed, but you will still be able to co-operate with the dentist. Many patients do not remember having the treatment afterwards and say it simply felt as if they went to sleep.
This can help you gain confidence whilst securing good dental health for now and the future.
This technique is very safe and you are monitored throughout by Dr Amita Peet and the rest of the qualified team. Amita is one of the most experienced dentists in the county at carrying out Sedation, and to date in her career she has performed over 3000 cases.
An assessment is required to determine a patientís suitability for sedation as it can depend on several factors, but sedation can be suitable for many patients.
